Version 0.10 (public beta) · Effective October 5, 2026 (accounts added). An attorney review is planned before paid plans start.
Your account
You need a free ATLAS account to open the map. When you create one we keep: your email address; your password, which our account provider (Supabase) stores only in scrambled (hashed) form, so nobody at ATLAS can read it; your name and company if you give them (both optional); the plan you're on and the history of your plan changes (with the reason you give when you cancel, if you give one); which version of these terms you agreed to and when; and when the account was made and last signed in. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and the name on your Google account; we don't get your Google password or anything else from Google.
We use this to sign you in, to give you the plan you picked, to email you about your account (confirming your email, resetting your password, and before any change to prices or billing), and to answer you. Signing in uses two cookies that keep you signed in for up to 60 days and a third that only tells the website you're signed in; they are needed to use ATLAS and are not used for advertising. Your account is kept until you delete it: Account page > Delete your account removes your sign-in, details, plan and plan history straight away. The analytics, shared numbers and messages below are not tied to your account.
Analytics (only if you tap Allow or Accept)
If you accept, ATLAS records how the site is used, without your name, so we can see what people use and improve the site:
- a random ID saved in your browser (not your name or account), and whether you're on a phone or a computer
- the website or link that brought you here (for example google.com, or campaign tags in the link)
- which tools you use: the mode, map layers, the data table and exports, importing and exporting drawings, map images or PDF reports (not what's in them), the selection tool (not which shapes), finding areas (not where or for what), saving or downloading an analysis (not the numbers in it), Street View, the tour, 2D / 3D
- what you chose to open or build, and the approximate area of spots you scan, rounded to about 1 km, never an exact address
- when you search: the kind of place you picked (for example a street address, a business, a city or a ZIP code), its map category (for example "cafe" or "school"), its area rounded to about 1 km, and whether anything matched. Never the words you type.
- on the hosted site, your approximate city and state from your internet connection; we don't store IP addresses
Numbers you choose to share (only if you tick the box)
When you save an analysis, the SAVE panel has a box, never ticked for you: "Share these numbers with ATLAS, without my name". If you tick it, each save sends what you plan to build (homes, apartments or building size, unit sizes) and the numbers you typed in the cost panel (land price, site work, design and engineering, financing, contingency, SAWS areas and meter), along with the zoning district, the lot size, the kind of use, the area rounded to about 1 km and ATLAS's own figures for the same project. If you also allowed analytics, the random ID above is attached so shares from the same browser can be grouped. We use them to see what people plan and budget and to make ATLAS's estimates better. Untick the box and nothing more is sent. Shares are kept for 3 years.
Messages you send (the ASK button and the Contact page)
When you press SEND, ATLAS saves what you wrote, the kind of message you picked (question, data request, something wrong, idea), the plan (mode) you were in, the building you had picked and whether it came from the map or the website. The email address only if you type one, so we can answer you. The spot you scanned only if you tick "include the spot", rounded to about 1 km. No IP address is stored, and nothing is sent until you press SEND. Messages are read by the ATLAS team (and may be emailed to us through our email provider) and are kept for 2 years; ask us to delete yours at any time.
What we don't collect
Your contacts, or your name and email beyond your account (unless you write them in a message you send us); the words you type in the search box; the numbers you type in the cost panel (unless you tick the share box above); your device's location from "locate me" (it stays on your device and is only used to move the map). We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
If you decline
Nothing is recorded, and the random ID is removed from your browser. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as decline.
Needed to run the site
Your terms acceptance and settings (theme, saved layouts, the map labels you pick for each layer, saved analyses and projects, and the numbers you type in the cost panel, kept per spot so a refresh doesn't lose them) are saved in your own browser and stay there; clearing your browser's data removes them. To answer a scan, ATLAS asks public data services about that spot (for example the U.S. Census Bureau, FEMA, the City of San Antonio, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and OpenStreetMap), and a free routing service (Valhalla, run by FOSSGIS) for drive times; they receive the spot, not who you are. Street View images come from Google when you open them.
What "without your name" means
Usage records and shared numbers are not linked to your name, email or ATLAS account, but they are not fully anonymous: the random browser ID groups records from the same browser, and the rounded area and the numbers themselves could, combined with other information, point to a particular project. That's why we keep them only for the periods below and never sell them.
Where it's kept
Your account, analytics, shared numbers and messages are stored with our database and sign-in provider (Supabase); accounts until you delete them, analytics and messages are deleted after 2 years, shared numbers after 3. Account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password) are sent through Supabase or our email provider. If email copies of messages are switched on, they pass through our email provider (Resend).
Keeping it safe
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we keep, such as encrypted connections, a database that only our own server can read or write, and as little personal information as possible. No system on the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete what we keep about you (for example a message you sent, or records tied to your browser's random ID). You can change your details or delete your account yourself on the Account page, and you can withdraw your consent to analytics at any time below. Depending on where you live you may have more rights under law, including the right to appeal a decision we make on your request. Send requests through the Contact page; we answer within 45 days. For usage records, tell us the random ID shown under "Your choice" if you can, since we can't otherwise tell which records are yours.
Children
ATLAS is for adults making planning and business decisions. It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
When this changes
Your saved analyses, drawings and cost numbers still stay in your own browser, not in your account. If we add cloud saving or payments, more information will be kept (payments would be handled by a payment provider; ATLAS would not store card numbers); we will update this policy before that happens and tell you by email and in ATLAS.
